Place to Visit
Mexico
At some point in my life, I want to visit Mexico. Since I started learning Spanish, I have developed an interest in the culture as well. I have heard multiple stories about other people's experiences
Things about Mexico:
-Día de Muertos is a day dedicated to celebrating and remembering those who have passed away.
-Aztecs and Mayans (indigenous groups located in modern-day Mexico) use to use cacao beans as currency. Additionally, they would turn the beans into a drink.
-The Mesoamerican ballgame was a game they would play to honor their gods; the game was life or death as the loser (or winner in some areas) was sacrificed to honor and appease their gods.
Three Tourist Attractions:
-Tulum: Is known for its beaches and impressive Mayan ruins.
-Chichén Itzá: This is another area known for the Mayan ruins that are still in impressive structure for its age. One temple that has survived is the Warriors' Temple, a temple with columns carved with figures of warriors.
-Mexico City Metropolitan Cathedral: This is a Roman Catholic Church that could be considered a tourist attraction because it represents the conquests of the Spanish over the Aztecs since it was built in the place of the Templo Mayor. Templo Mayor was the main temple where the Aztecs would have celebrated their gods.
